Description:

About 0.1", cute beetle, reddish golden colored, rarely fly..

Habitat:

Found in Ipomoea batatas.. The are so many tortoise beetles in there, Asian Golden Tortoise Beetle, Spotted Tortoise Beetle, Green Tortoise Beetle..

Congratulations Jason, this super series has earned you Spotting of the Day! The Asian golden or Holy Cross tortoise beetle is so named because when viewed from above or below it looks like it has been crucified. Like all tortoise beetles it can pull its cuticle down on to the surface of the leaf to seal itself off from any unwanted attention from predators such as ants.
