Field Notes

Description:

Rust-colored and also known as the milkweed tortoise beetle. It was eating the plant, as evidenced by small holes in the leaf.

Habitat:

Seen on vegetation at the shoreline of Lake Erie at Presque Isle State Park.

Notes:

It's found in both North America and the Caribbean.
