Description:
Chestnut brown, black and yellow butterfly seen in particular abundance this Spring. Mottled for camoflage underwings. Males and females do not display sexual domorphism.
Habitat:
'Yellow Admiral Butterflyies prefer damp areas such as gullies, creek banks, riverside, also suburban gardens'
Seen in leafy urban gardens. This specimen was warming itself by the morning sun between two fence pickets. Caterpillars' food plant is nettles.
