Field Notes

Description:

An early morning drink for this Apostlebird. Medium size grey feathered birds of the inland regions of Australia. Usually found in groups chattering or other unusual calls almost continuously as leaves on the ground and small stones are overturned in search of food such as larvae, insects, seeds, invertebrates. A seeming trusting bird they go about their business.

Habitat:

Found throughout north and inland regions of Australia, less so the further west you travel. This one in western Queensland opal country, a usually arid, red sand environment but at this time plenty of rain had fallen, vegetation was plentiful as was water, and all wildlife appeared at ease, happy and not stressed.
