Field Notes

Description:

The rosette of basal leaves are distinctly red-veined. This specimen is covered in a soft down but the leaves may also be smooth. It typically has a yellow dandelion-like bloom May-Sep.

Habitat:

Native Distribution: Ontario; New England south to Florida, west to Louisiana, and north to Missouri and Michigan. Native Habitat: Dry open woods, thickets, and clearings.

Notes:

Spotted along a dirt road in Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
