Description:

A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) resting after feeding on Jewelweed flowers (Impatiens capensis) located near the beginning of the boardwalk at Huntley Meadows Park. Did you know birds have three types of eyelids? I shot all of the photos in this set using burst mode (2 FPS); Photo 3 of 3 shows the bird’s eyelids closed.

Habitat:

Huntley Meadows Park, a 1,425 acre wetland area in Fairfax County, Virginia USA. Related Resource: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/huntley/
