Field Notes

Description:

These termites just came through a small hole in the ground and proceeded to eat a small piece of decaying leaf and went down. All within two hours. I find there are two types. One with the pointed snout seems to direct the operation :-)
I have one more spotting here... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/58836029

Habitat:

Underground.

Thank you so much Keith for identifying them..
Cool. The ones with the pointed snouts are called nasutes. They secrete a substance from their snouts that is repellant to other insects.
