Field Notes

Description:

Ghost crab foraging in the late afternoon on sandy beach. Pale colour of carapace. Eyes had 'styles' - upward-pointing projections.

Habitat:

Sandy beach on an inlet at Ras Al Hadd, Oman.

Notes:

Very fast-moving, but largely sitting and waiting in the mouth of the burrow. I have seen large turrets formed by this species at Ras Al Khaimah, UAE (see second photo, taken on June 28th 2014)
