Field Notes

Habitat:

Found in our vegetable garden.

Notes:

This sqaush was in the part of our garden that was left fallow last summer. I found this one as I was clearing out a tall growth of weeds. I had harvested several good squash from this vine. But this one was not visible till now. I assume squirrels consumed most of this squash but other rodents may have been involved. I allowed this vine to grow in the fallow area because it would overwhelm they other vegetables. These vines are aggressive climbers and will grow over the garden fence and up trees. White-tail deer eat any of the vines that escape the garden. See the link for more interesting information about this variety of squash.
