Description:

The upper surface of this fungus has the appearance of having been varnished (shown best in picture 3). The surface is reddish-brown with white to yellow edges when young, growing laterally from a similar-colored stem. This image shows a small, cute one.

Habitat:

Grows exclusively on conifers, especially hemlocks.
