Dead-wood Borer
Scolecocampa liburna
39.5689, -82.0428
Field Notes
Description:
I've been waiting to see this absolutely gorgeous moth for years! The larvae are often found in dead, rotting wood (as the name aptly suggests), and they are suspected to feed on the fungi that decompose the wood.
Notes:
Found at the generous and extremely kind Diane Platco Brooks' home, Brookside Haven.
Lifer!
