Field Notes

Description:

cap: young: 2.2cm diam .8cm height convex to plane. margin circular and smooth.
mature: highly upturned, horn like. 8cm diam 4-5 cm high. margin highly wavy light brown smooth with dark brown felt spots. cap flesh light brown 7-8mm thick.

gills yellow brown. crowded. decurrent. gill edge mostly smooth. turns dark brown where bruised (just getting wetter?) gills (not gill edge) wrinkled at margin. gills 5mm deep. gill colour yellower than cap.

stem l: 4cm width 1.2 getting slightly thinner downwards. light brown with very dark vertical mated fibres. interior flesh like cap. no ring no volva

Habitat:

many solitary specimens near pond edge.

Notes:

I had prepared a cap for spore prints but it was cleaned away before I could check print.
