Description:

It's a summer flowering plant in the Papaveraceae family, which is native to Northern Africa, Macronesia, temperate zones in Western Asia and the Caucasus, as well as Europe.

Notes:

The glaucine is the main alkaloid contained in the plant. He broncho-dilator and anti-inflammatory properties, acting as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor and calcium channel blocker. For these properties is sometimes used, mostly in the form of hydrochloride of glaucine, as a cough suppressant. Can have side effects such as sedation, fatigue, and can be a hallucinogen that can stimulate visual sensations particularly colorful. For this characteristic is sometimes used as a substance of abuse
