Description:

I had never noticed this growth or stage or growth on a pine tree before and thought I would share the image. It was so intersting to me that you can see all the structures emerging, even though it was smaller than a dime.

Fun fact: Female (or ovulate) cones are called "megastrobili" - so as you decorate your homes for the holidays you can pull that word out on family and friends! :)
