Description:
The wild passion vine, also commonly known as maypop, is an herbaceous perennial. It grows to about 10 feet and has dark green leaves. The flowers are very unique with light purple petals and backward-facing stamens. At mid to late summer, it will produce golf ball-sized green fruit which the deer love.
Habitat:
On disturbed, sandy soil near my garden in full sun.
Notes:
The wild passion vine is the larval food plant of the Gulf Fritillary.
