Field Notes

Description:

For my 3000th spotting, I choose this Trilobite beetle. I've been fascinated by these beetles ever since I saw my first one on PN a few years ago. Fellow spotter Jason Alexander and I found a few of these in Grand Forest Park in the city of Bandung.

Habitat:

forest, urban

Notes:

I was thrilled to finally spot a Trilobite beetle. I love their prehistoric look. We were bombarded by thirsty mosquitoes when we spotted these and I wasn't prepared for that. It was a challenge to get some decent photos while being eaten alive, but this was the best I could do. Thanks again to Jason and his family for their hospitality and bringing me to the park.

Thanks a lot for SOTD and everyone's kind comments. Thanks Sergio, some high praise there. I look forward to the next 3000 spots!
Congratulations, Dan. Not only 3,000 is a great milestone, but you have one of the most beautiful collections of PN. I love them all. Fotis Angel, please go to the FAQ section ( http://www.projectnoah.org/faq ), there you'll find all info you need to start in Project Noah.

Congrats Dan! Great find :)
Congrats Dan - your awesome 3000th spotting is Spotting of the Day! The trilobite beetle's armor-plating provides it with excellent protection from predators. Great choice for your 3000th spotting Dan! Congrats! It was also my first time I ever saw trilobite beetle, although I have been there many times, maybe they knew your were coming.. :D Speaking of mosquitos, I've never met them as much as that time, sorry for that.. I'm glad you came here Dan.. Very welcome.. Btw, the map of this spotting is a bit misplace, that is in Gunung Gede NatPark, not the Grand Forest Park, here's the location; Lat: -6.85, Long: 107.64 :)
