Field Notes
Description:
Almost the whole trunk of a small tree was covered in the delicate shells in various stages of development. The largest were about 16mm wide. Very thin, fuzzy, pale tan caps with darker orange/tan, very simple gills underneath.
Habitat:
In damp rain forest dominated by eucalyptus but these were on a broad leaved species yet to be identified.
Notes:
Anthracophyllum is a genus with only ten members and mostly found in the tropical parts of the world. This species is mostly found in the cooler parts of Australia however. <br>
