Description:

These mushrooms are in their last stage of asexuality, this stage is called anamorph in mycologese.

Habitat:

At the base of a dead tree in a suburban yard

I am fairly sure they are. They were all growing together at the base of the same tree. I think the tan colored growths turn gray (or vice versa). You can see in the 3rd photo the tips are beginning to look gray and chalky like the first photo
