Field Notes

Description:

This little cuddly teddy-bear of a moth was small with a wing span of about 30mm and feathered antennae (pic 2). It was mostly a pale brown with dense whitish setae on the thorax. Wings were tented and had three brown spots. Legs were covered with thick 'fur". the moth looked triangular both from the side and above.

Habitat:

Under bright lights near a national park with Eucalyptus trees.

Found throughout Australia

Notes:

The caterpillars of the moth live on eucalyptus leaves and are an interesting shape (see reference) - would love to see one !
This is an exciting find for me..

This has one synonym - Anapaea trigona

Family; Limacodidae
