Field Notes

Description:

Bee Hawk-Moth, aka Pellucid and even Coffee Hawk-Moth.
Colour varies from green to beige. Very active, hardly spend time at a flower. Photo 3 shows a fight with a red tree ant, that caught the moth's probiscus and held on. When a second ant approached I helped the moth out, it flew away without visible damage.

Thanks Marta. The first time I saw one I had no idea it was a moth, they behave like carpenter bees, very active. Only when I got my first shots I realized it is a moth, awesome animals, love to see them!
This is so cute! I love these guys and I have never seen one with such a fluffy butt! :-)
