Field Notes

Description:

Grows to 5 ft. tall, new growth is reddish and covered with whitish woolly fuzz. Flowers in the spring, white to yellowish petals are 3-7 cm long (I know I switched to metric. sorry...) , yellowish at the base.

Habitat:

Sandhills and Flatwoods. This specimen was found adjacent to the Silver River State Park in Ocala.

Notes:

first time to see them in bloom. Lovely!
