Description:

A winter visitor to North-west India, they arrive in large flocks. This species has been on a rapid decline due to hunting and habitat loss due to change in agricultural practices on their breeding and wintering grounds. It is now considered to have qualified for the 'Vulnerable' status by IUCN.

Habitat:

Open area with scattered trees and shrubs.

Notes:

These birds are extremely shy and challenging to photograph them. After spending a long time with a flock foraging, I managed to get up close.
