Description:

Though this is called an Egret, it is actually a heron. This one is almost like the Night Heron as it has a shorter neck and bill then egrets. Mostly white with buff colored feathers on the crown, chest and center of back which has longer feathers. Depending on the location and season (breeding) this color can be lighter or darker. The leg color will also change during breeding season.

Habitat:

Usually spotted in lowlands and fields. These were spotted in a slightly higher elevation.
