Field Notes

Description:

Small distinctive kidney shaped brown fungi with thin caps and brown gills dusted with black spores. The fruiting bodies had short lateral stems. Caps were about 10to 12 mm wide.

Habitat:

Spotted on damp dead twigs and bark - damp temperate rain forest - Sherbrooke Forest

Notes:

A very attractive fungus that can be so easily missed because of its size and colour. Spore print - black as in https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/24467024
