Field Notes

Description:

Height: 1-3 ft. with 4 to 10 bright yellow, dandelion-like flowers, grow on a single stalk and only open a few at a time. The composite flower is made up of 20-30 individual ray flowers, lacking the center disk flowers. Leaves are coarse-toothed, linear basal leaves, 2-5 inches long, stem leaves 1" stalkless with sharp teeth.

Habitat:

dry, sun, fields, along roads, sandy soils, pastures

Notes:

Many plants found along the roadside on north Cotton Lake road.
