Southern Two Striped Walking Stick
Anisomorpha ferruginea
30.9442, -83.1087
Field Notes
Description:
Looks like a stick.
Habitat:
Their natural habitat is woodlands and forested areas where there are many broadleaf trees. They live on the foliage of shrubs and bushes and on tree stems.
Notes:
This species can squirt a strong-smelling defensive “acidic” spray that is painfully irritating to the eyes and mucous membranes. They can spray as far away as a foot in distance, so you should handle them carefully and away from your face.
