Field Notes

Description:

Large mushrooms 6 to 10 cm across, with a yellow spore print.

Habitat:

An oak grove in Mulick Park.

Notes:

The flesh was brittle and the layer of gills peeled away easily. The odor was strong and mushroomy but quickly become fishy and very unpleasant. They appeared after a few days of heavy rain, along with many russulas and some boletes. My best guess is some kind of russula.
