Field Notes
Description:
This is an nightjar egg. Most likely only by the egg's image it would not be possible to achieve the exact identification (maybe there is some way to do this, I not known). But the point is that it's very difficult to photograph this bird and this time I could not do it (predictable...). But I got a short movie of it in its nest. That is in my blog (www.lifeinlog.org). I know that this species is common here in Brazil. Although hard to see, here we have many of them. I have some reasons to believe that this is the Hydropsalis albicollis, but I will not risk naming it yet. Does any friend could confirm this?
Habitat:
Brazil's interior, woods bank with quite dry foliage on the ground.
Notes:
I did not have proper equipment to get it in close, but through a trap I could film it in its nest. Hope this helps!
