Field Notes

Description:

This is an orb weaver. They make a stabilimentum (web decoration) in the center of their circular web. They have distinctive yellow and black markings on their abdomens and a mostly white cephalothorax.

Habitat:

This large spider was slowly crossing a cement bike and jogging trail. Temperature was low 70's and the path was beside a wooded area.
