Field Notes

Description:

Mostly white underside that gets some brown up toward the neck. The top is mostly brown with some white and black-tipped wings. The neck is black with a white patch under the head to most of the way to the top. Black bill

Habitat:

Flooded canal that leads to a lake. Berm to walk on with grass.

Notes:

These two always showed up in the afternoon through the evening. Decided to name them Kathy and Gus. Chatty Kathy cause they were honking most of the time. Not sure if they had a nest but never saw any chicks. Possibly the nest was flooded or destroyed with how unstable the area is at this time of year. Always showed up together and chased off any other Geese that came into the canal.
