Great Plains Toad

Anaxyrus cognatus

Comments (2)

American Toads have larger paratoid glands and the dark spots on the back only have 1-2 warts in them. Great Plains Toads have many warts per dark spot on the back, smaller paratoid glands, and the cranial crests form a V that gets wider as it extends back. Also, Bufo is no longer the Genus of toads in North America. They are now either in the Genus Anaxyrus or the Genus Incilius.
