Description:
The groove-billed ani is a tropical bird in the cuckoo family. It's completely black with a long tail and a huge bill that has grooves in the upper mandible. A protected bird Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
Habitat:
Spotted at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas. Perched in a snag near the Rio Grande River.
