Field Notes
Description:
Bright yellow body with a black head and pink beak. The nest is a neatly- constructed dangling cup-like structure. It is as high as a 2 storey building. If you look carefully you can see the nestlings. Eyes are yet to open.
Habitat:
Urban, residential area. On tall, roadside tree very close to a large waterbody.It was sheer chance that I saw the parent bird alight near its nest. I was actually tracking a pair of tree-pies!
Notes:
In the photo taken on 25 May 2022 you can see the eyes have opened.
In the photo taken on 31 May 2022 you can see that feathers have appeared and the chicks (there are two) are confident enough to stick their heads out.
Photo taken on 3 June 2022 shows the first chick is now confident to stick its body out and survey the world.
