Description:

Unknow species of Lotus spotted in the Kodai Hasu No Sato (ancient Lotuses Park) in Gyoda, Saitama, Japan.

Habitat:

If you look closely at the top-right petals you can see one has a heart shaped mark (bruise) on it!

Species ID Suggestions

Just checked the genus Nelumbo (lotus) and there are only two species. One in North America (Nelumbo lutea) and one that occurs from Egypt to India, China, Japan, and Australia. This one is Nelumbo nucifera.
