Description:

These might be Great Blue Herons, but the necks look shorter and the mask on the bird at left looks more pronounced than I've usually seen on Blue Herons.

Habitat:

Seen in a saltwater/brackish cove.

You are right -- I just read on another site that they are seen here until about mid-Sept.
Where are you seeing it is out of range? On the link I provided, you are within the summer/migration range.
Thank you! Seems like it is quite far outside of its usual range? Seen August 23rd. Would it be here to spend the winter?
