Field Notes

Description:

About 3/4 inch long, bronze colour, clear wings, black legs

Habitat:

Rose garden at my home. Pacific Northwest temperate rainforest. I use no pesticides or herbicides so there are lots of bugs in my garden, including lady bugs. This fly is 2x as long as most house flies that I see.

Notes:

Was just pondering a way to get rid of some of my pest bugs in my rose garden when I noticed this guy watching me from a rose leaf. Yeah, he may be one of the reasons my roses are not perfect, but it will have to stay that way!!
