Found these 2 Efts after a torrential downpour drove them out of hiding just wandering in the open.

Beautiful! Since you know the identity of your newt, it would be great if you would add the scientific name (Notophthalmus viridescens) to your spotting to make it complete. Please update any other spottings you have that are like this. The database here at Project Noah considers this spotting as "unknown" until both the common and scientific name fields have been filled out. :-)

Yeah these are the only newts we have up here, I guess the bright color is to warn predators of toxic substances on their skin. The young ones have bright spots on their skin too.

Cool. Where I live there are California Newts that are much more drab than these.
