Field Notes

Description:

Medium size beetle 3 cm in length, black and with short antennas, bulky body. Similar to Dorcus parallelipipedus.

Habitat:

Dirt road inside mixed forest, close to a recreational park. Near national park.

Notes:

I suspect this one was injured, because it didn't react to me in a normal way, and the antennas was withdrawn towards the body. It was still alive, so I gently relocated it to a suitable place.
