Chalkhill Blue - Argus bleu-nacré (male)

Males of this Lycaenidae species have pale silvery-blue wings on a brownish background on the upperside, while females are chocolate brown. The underside markings are distinctive. As suggested by its English common name the Chalkhill blue is found on chalk and limestone lands. These males were feeding off a piece of decaying plant matter. Sweat on my fingers seemed tasty too. Males butterflies extract nutrients such as salts and amino acids from such substrates which are necessary for reproduction.
