Description:

Beautiful millipede.

Habitat:

Sub-tropical equatorial mountain forest habitat at around 1500 MASL. Discovered in a small freshwater creek. I was surprised to see this anthropoid fully immersed in the water.

Notes:

Upon closer observation of the photograph I noticed that the millipede exoskeleton is supporting a comfortable habitat for numerous mites. Zoom in on the body of the millipede to view the small mites.

Hello bayucca: I would agree with your suggestion that it is Anadenobolus sp. My photograph was taken in the same area of Volcano Sumaco in the community of Pacto Sumaco just up the road from Wild Sumaco. The entire region is a largely unexplored paradise of incredible biodiversity. Re: Swiss Cross on knife. Yes, of course.
