Field Notes

Habitat:

River bank

Notes:

The geese on the right were photographed during migration. The Idahoan geese are most likely a pair. I also have observed a Canada Goose with its fuzzy, yellow chicks at Lake Shasta. Geese form the classic “V” in flight because it creates an airfoil in which flight is made easier for the members of the flock. The bird in front of the formation takes the brunt of the wind force and changes out with other geese to rest.
