several cm diameter cap, knobby irregular rounded white cap, ridges thick stem, covering looks felty-like

Habitat:

growing from cedar mulch patches on a mixed species lawn under hemlock trees

Hi again Ingrid. This is an excellent example of a fungi which attacks a fungi !! The one inside would be a boletus species like your two-colored bolete but it has been overwhelmed by another called Hypomyces chrysospermus or 'The Bolete Eater' Read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypomyces_chrysospermus
