Description:

A very small fly about 8 mm in length and mimicking a bee. It makes a loud buzzing when flying, like a bee, but is too small to imitate a Bumble Bee although it is yellow and black and hairy like a Bumble Bee. The face is flattened and white. The legs are hairy and striped yellow and black. The scutellum is prominent and hairy. The wings are patterned and held together overlapping on the abdomen. Family Syrphidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
