Habitat:

This shrub was in an oak woodland.

Notes:

This plant (also known as Hollywood) is the city’s namesake. In the 1920’s, this shrub was used as Christmas wreaths. Toyon produces large red berry clusters. The leathery leaves a sharply toothed.
