Fascinating! All the ones I have seen are dull brown, and not orange like yours!
A wonderful spotting, Bob. That's an awesome snake. Congrats on your SOTD
fierce looking. Great photo
Thank you. I am honoured by this.
Congratulations Bob, this spectacular pit-viper is our Spotting of the Day! Glad you got pictures from different angles, including the whole snake. We're showing them all as a video on social media! "Endemic to the island of Borneo, this magnificent Bornean Leaf-nosed Pit-viper (Trimeresurus borneensis) is our Spotting of the Day! This medium size, thick-bodied snake has a distinctive head with a slightly upturned snout forming a leaf-like process overhanging its nostrils. Its eyes are yellowish brown with vertically elliptical pupils, and its bodily varies from light brown to bright yellow with darker markings. While is has a prehensile tail, adults are generally found on the forest floor. Pit vipers (Crotalinae) are a subfamily of venomous vipers found in Eurasia and the Americas, characterized by the presence of a heat-sensing pit organ located between the eye and the nostril, well visible on the first and second shots here".
