Field Notes

Description:

These moths are a pale grey with thin black and grey wavy bands. the under side of the wings are white with black patches in the submarginal areas. Along the inside of each black patch in the submarginal area is a thin pinkish red line, giving this moth its common name.
The antennae of the moth in pics 1,2 & 3 were feathery suggesting that it was male. Pic 5 is that of a female found nearby.

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights on a warm evening.

Notes:

My previous spotting of the Red-lined Geometer did not include shots of the underside.

Family: Geometridae

Subfamily: Geometrinae
