Field Notes

Description:

Creamy white mushrooms, with very light brown patches, up to about ~ 50 mm high. Cap initially flat to slightly knobbed, margin becoming incurved and wavy over time, smooth, largest individuals ~ 150 mm diameter. Stem creamy white to very light brown, flesh light lavender, cylindrical (equal), thick, ~ 10 mm diameter in mature individuals. Gills creamy white to very light brown, crowded, descending.

Habitat:

Suburban area on a mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing in a neighborhood lawn. Distribution not uniform but individuals seemed to be on the circumference of a circle ~ 3 m in diameter.

That's as far as I know a Hexering, people in the "old days" believed these rings of mushrooms was the act of some evil witches in the nearby area. Total bull, but very interesting. Good spotting!
