Field Notes

Description:

This grasshopper is a yellowish green with few contrasting markings. They have short, somewhat thicker antennae, considerably shorter than their body length. Their wings resemble grass blades which are held vertically along the length of the abdomen. They hear with a tympanum which is found on the first segment of the abdomen.

Habitat:

They are a northern species of grasshopper that are only found in the northern U.S. and Canada. It feeds on sedges in wet areas such as wet shrub meadows, lake edges and sedge marshes.

Notes:

Found along marsh area near north Cotton Lake road.
