D. Joe is right. J.villida is from Australia.Also introduced into Britain. J. almana almana is distributed in Nepal,Bhutan,Northeast India(Sikkim Assam),Mayanmar,Thailand and Laos. Your photo is a wet season form male.

Dhirendra, why you change the ID? This J. vilida is an Australian species. Why don't you stick to J. almana almana, as recommended by three people? And the common name is Peacock Pansy, no doubt about that.

Dhirendra, the Common Buckeye is an American species, and it's not found in your area. But you're correct, they are similar. They both belong to the genus Junonia. Junonia contains more than 30 species, which are found all around the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junonia

Just today I had a spotting of the same, will upload later,I think the dry-season form, but will check first, it's only visible on the underparts. Nice shot too.

I agree with Junonia almana, but I believe Lenny must have entered "Intricate Jester" as a common name by mistake, The common name is Peacock Pansy.
