Keep watching the fire area. It's amazing how things come back, often with more of something you didn't see much of before. Do you get morels there? They love a good fire, emerging in spring.
Thanks for asking Shebe! The fire was pretty bad!! Really do not know much about how much wild life we lost. The ranger was saying that we are seeing about 5 tarantulas as compared to the 18 we were seeing before! I saw one. Took me 2 hours to find it! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/43087029
This looks like a relative of the carrion beetle we have here (I believe it's formally named a Snail-eating beetle), or maybe an assassin bug.
How did things survive the recent fire there? Are they growing back now that the fall rains have arrived? Did the tarantulas of Mt. Diablo move out en masse with the fire?
